What is the best country to visit for a BW fan?
Hey all,
due to the company postponing my holiday plans, I got to thinking (always a dangerous thing) "What countries should I actually go to?" My previous plans were the Eastern Seaboard of USA because I could potentially target many toy companies (ref. my other posts) and Japan because it is the land of giant fighting robots. Now I put forward this post in the hopes of gaining a clearer understand of Beast Wars' effects around the world. Come on people. Sell your country. Tell us why you think where you live is the best Beastie home.

It's ok sir. I'll be fine...

As far as I can tell, nobody on BWINT lives in Japan, so . . . *grins* come to the Eastern Seaboard! Providence, RI sports the Hasbro offices . . . and there's SO many other cool things while on vacation in that area. Like Boston. You can't go wrong by Boston.
Unless you were going to Miami or somewhere warm. When's the potential dates for the holiday?

Potential Feb next year at the moment because that is when my contract expires. Plus side, is I will have double the amount of cash than if it was Nov down side is I have to wait
I know about Hasbro... it is my primary target
My original plan was to fly to NY stay there for a few days, hire a Mustang from Hertz and drive out to RI. After a few days there I would make my way to Ohio (have relatives there) and then mosey on down to Miami (again relos as well as the warm weather). Now I think I have a definite month to play with and potentially 2 weeks on top of that if I can argue for it. So does my plan sound like it would blow the time frame way out?
Additionally, what kind of accommodation would you recommend in RI?

Hi Silver! I have some suggestions for you.
If you can move your holiday forward by a month, then you could enjoy Transforce, the UK Transformers convention taking place in South London. I am going to be there, as might my Canadian friend Varyn. I might be able to convince LoneMaximal to go and Amber will probably be there, too (all from Bwint). The date is the 17th March and more info about it can be found here: http://www.transforce.org.uk/transforce2007.htm
From London it's easy and relativley cheap go to anywhere in the USA.
Or, if you are prepared/can move your holiday a few months ahead of that til June, then you will catch Botcon 2007, which is taking place in Providence, Rhode Island. Roughly 16 Bwint people are looking to be there (so far, more may come yet!) so it will be a tremendous gathering and in time for the TF movie, as well.
Otherwise, both the Florida and London Bwint Gatherings are looking to be in early summer of next year, though no specific dates have yet been decided.

Here's a place you shouldn't go to. Scandinavia. -__- Beast Wars never aired here. All of my... wait... nine BW figures are from a Finnish friend of mine (latest figure bought from him: TM2 Prowl... and I'm planning to write a fic about him! ...the figure I mean...
).

Come to New York! We don't have Beast Wars, but we have snow, and lots of... er... York.
I can't recommend a good Beast Wars stop, but if you're still interested in one of the robotics competitions, March is prime time for those. March 8 - 10 is the one in Rochester, NY I will be at. On that same weekend is one in Orlando, FL and on March 22 - 24 is one in Cleveland, OH.
Here is the list of known regional competitions. Some others may decide to sign a contract between now and January, but I doubt it.

Hmm.... it is all very tempting
Scandinavia here I come!!
Thanks for the warning Safegaurd
I am currently revising my itinerary as we speak... perhaps my work is beginning to wonder why they pay me at all
With any luck, I can negotiate with work to start a new contract with me at the end of March. If so, then I can start the holiday in Miami at the beginning of February and be in NY for the robot war on the 8th ish and then potentially in London for Transforce. I have a mate who lives in London so it may be good to catch up with him (read be very hung over the morning after
) as well.
With any luck I may even be able to squeeze some time in for Japan on the way back after all.

Antarctica, hands down!

What?

Ooooh, I love snow! I can't believe Buffalo, NY was already blanketed by 2 feet of it last Friday! Too bad it couldn't have been a little more south.
I hope my part of PA gets hammered this year. I'd like to have a really nice blizzard since that hasn't happened for a good while now. *is snow deprived because last winter was waaay too mild*

Ugh, 2 wheel drive in winter. You're braver than I! Blzzards are awesome, all that snow, just waiting for me to ski on it...I hope my part of PA gets hammered this year. You're welcome to borrow my field band hat. It's a purple cowboy style hat with a gigantic black feathery plume coming out of the top. Trust me, I won't miss it!SilverfromOZ wrote:But it only counts if you do it all whilst wearing a funny hat![]()

To be perfectly honest, I have never encountered snow yet. Yes, yes, everyone has the "you are a crazy sheltered person" reaction, which is exactly why I am going on this trip to see the world (or at least some of the best parts

Well, if you'd like to see snow but miss the BW stuff, Scandinavia's a good place. During winter when the wind and the temperature mix, it can go to -30 degrees Celsius. And that's cold. (...I usually walk to school when it's -30...)

well, to be completely frank, i havn't a clue where u can go for bw/tf merchandise (iv been unfortunate in life) but if u like unbearable humidity, infrequent but dusty sandstorms and 11hrs of desert sunshine by all means, come to kuwait! its really sticky here at the moment but this time of yr usually it gets more mild...but it never snows...soz bout tht, but its not my fault!
ps...i wouldnt actually advise coming here for a holiday...nobady does that unless theyr visiting friends/family or unless they actually live here (like me!). but a lot of ppl cum here (mainly uk and us) for work/school/army, coz there are no taxes (!!!!!) and everythins really cheap. so if u get tired of ur workplace just google it: KUWAIT!
but reason for best beastie place...coz
IM THE BIGGEST BW FAN IN THE WHOLE OF THE MIDDLE EAST!!!!! I CAN SAY MAXIMIZE IN ARABIC!!! who else here can do that, really?
lol!
