The Intergalactic Highway

It's the first Saturday in January, and I'm not sure if anybody remembers this but BWInt was launched on a similar Saturday morning in 2003. Which means it's Beast Wars International's birthday! Woot!

Aaaand since there's been a bunch of us "old ones," as Joshin coined it, returning to the board lately, I thought maybe we could celebrate by posting our favorite memories of pre- and current BWInt.

Hands up if you remember swatting AIMOO ads!

Or Saturday chats! (BBQing, crickets, and Dinobot without pants included).

Or finding BWInt on Google for the first time?

Starath and her light-sucking flashlight?

"CLM" (Chuckles like Megatron), "GLT" (giggles like Tarantulas), "TOD" (Typos of Doom)?

The first Gathering in that little hotel room in Rocklin and watching Beast Wars for three days straight? Or Ottawa, when Varyn's poor laptop died in fear of Rampage?


So what do you guys remember most about BWInt?

I remember the last one! (as I was there)

I also remember hearing about a certain RPG that BWINT tried to do but got out of control.

And my first chat... which consisted up to 17 people O_O

Hahaha, we are indeed the Old Ones© (yes, yes, I'm copywriting that for the sake of those here! Anyone here from the beginning gets that title! Hahhaa!)

And I definitely remember weekend chats with massive amounts of people.

Waking up extremely early to talk to friends on the opposite side of the ocean.

And who can forget when I stumbled upon the archived remains of BWA and so many lost fics were cherished once more. *brings tear to eye*

And of course, the launch of BWIv2.0 with the new little buttons on the side that change from robot to beast? (Appropriately, with the five major characters loved by the Old Ones at the time! lol)

Sweet the Website is now 6 years old?Sweet.

Hope I can see the site live long enough for ten years(Whoo!)

That's quite a feat. I never knew BWInt had been around this long.

DUDE, I feel old. O_o I actually made my first "draft" of the site in 2002 (http://bwint.net/updates2002.htm) , when it was a combined Beast Wars and Formula 1 site (my other passion). Back then, it was only a humble few who visited, most prominent in my mind is BlazeRaptor (then Solar Blaze), Nurann, Dannn and Starath. As the site got more popular and I started to accept other ppl's fics, I moved it from Dreamwater, to another host (Crosswinds), to yoll.net (*http://sapphire15.yoll.net/) and eventually to BWINT after a mass vote to get a URL and official name for it. Before it was called Beast Wars International, it was just "Sapphire's Beast Wars Website".

There's a little history for ya. I'm still amazed that my hobby grew into something that lasted this long. I never expected it to survive when I was well into my 20s. O_o

And we thank ya greatly for it, Sapph *bows and offers birthday cake to the website*

Hahaha, I still have that laptop! It has been patched back up and died so many times, since-- oddly enough, most of its times-of-death have been during episodes of various cartoons. I suppose it has a faint heart, poor thing.

It's currently waiting on being fixed, yet again. I really ought to buy a new one, but I'm a stubborn cheapskate.

I remember saturday chats, TOD, finding this place, old forums... old... oldness.

I'm like some kind of bacteria under the fridge that just won't go away 8D

I think I've figured it out: this, *this* is what the protoform beast warriors feel like.

I mean, I've been here since April of 2007, but still... that's like being Silverbolt in the third season. I can claim I'm not new, but once in a while the other guys will talk about that one time Rattrap had to shut down Sentinel all by himself, or when Cheetor found a floating mountain.

And was *right*.

Either way, I'm glad to have come here when I did, and here's hoping bwint continues to do well.

In all honesty, I have tried many times to catch somebody on the live chatroom, but nobody is ever there. When did it finally die I wonder, since it obviously died before I got here, and it used to be so prominent?

We gave up on them two or three years ago Blazemane... I think we started to get jobs, or school, and one or two people started families....
*remembers VBA popping in for short periods while her kid was napping*

I work Saturday afternoon, but we could try to organize for Saturday morning or sunday? What do you guys think - AIM, noon or 1ish ... what did we use? Eastern time? Oh, and thanks for the title, Joshin! I've been wondering what to call us...

*gigglefits* Of course, I feel old now, I'll be turning 21 at the end of this month, and geez, BW's already had it's 10 year anniversary. What does that say about me? lol Over half my life spent on this show, and even longer on G1!

I haven't been here long enough to be an oldie but I'm not new enough to be a newbie. Does that make me middle aged?

Let's see...when I joined up Saturday AIM chats were still an item. I remember poor Sapphire on her Yahoo ID taking me through the steps of downloading AIM Messenger. Which....didn't work due to my lousy internet connection. *sigh*

I've managed to make lasting friendships here. I have to say you guys are pretty awesome.
