Yeah, the episode was pretty awesome. Heck, I think Ratchet was especially awesome in that episode. Also did any one noticed how jealous Lugnut looked when Megatron called Shockwave his most loyal servent?

The very late Review for 'This Is Why I Hate Machines!'

Animation



Grandus:Although he was shown a couple of times,Grandus is finally seen in Robot Mode.This version of Grandus does have the same red and white colour scheme to his G1 counterpart,but the Animated version is coloured black for the remaining parts of his body instead of blue.What is different between the two however,is that Animated Grandus is a lot more ‘expandable’ than his G1 version.


Flareup:Her colour schemes and design resemble her Timelines counterpart,but the difference being that her head piece is more akin to the character Firestar.She’s also equipped with a wrist cannon,and based on it’s design,it’s a pyrotechnic weapon.And, like her Timelines counterpart,she does have high heels.


Rattletrap:His design and colour scheme is a combination of Cybertronian and pre-Transmetal Rattrap,complete with some headgear from the original Ransack.He’s also got two front teeth on the bottom of his mouth.


Tracks:Compared to the other Cybertronians,Tracks is one of the most different in term of his design.He does retain the same colour schemes as his G1 version,however,the Animated Tracks does not have the original’s shoulder cannons and is replaced with glasses and a soul patch .


Shockwave:His true colour scheme is purple,more akin to his G1 counterpart.



Characters



Ratchet:His second-focused Episode of this Season,as he was happy to see Cybertron again after an Earth year of absence.However, his happiness faded as he observes the changes of his home planet,due to ‘Sentinel Magnus’.Because of this, he became more outspoken;whether standing up to authorities such as Sentinel and the Council,or when explaining his involvement to the Great Wars to Fanzone,particularly the Omega Project.


Fanzone:This is also his second focused Episode since Season I.Once again, he phrases his reasons on why he loathes the mechanical begins around him:Both on Earth and on Cybertron.However, on Cybertron,he’s the fear of every Cybertronian;from Grandus to Rattletrap.We get to see more of Fanzone as a cop than comic relief,as he often helped Ratchet from escaping Sentinel Prime to getting info from Rattletrap.


Arcee:Her memories finally return.


Sentinel Prime:It looks like my psychological analysis on Sentinel Prime is misleading:With power,Sentinel provides classic examples of Fascism;from propaganda messages,approving curfew to all of Cybertron,even going against the Council on how to approach Omega Supreme.To note,with that much power,Sentinel becomes more foolish than before,as he dares to attack Omega Supreme,regardless of Ratchet’s warnings of destroying Cybertron as well.


Jazz:Although he spoke very little in this Episode,there were scenes where he thought about his place in the Elite Guard,but most often thought why he is still under the command of a jerk like Sentinel Prime.He was also following Ratchet and Fanzone for the whole Episode;willing to help them get to Arcee before Shockwave.


Jetfire/Jetstorm:Their roles were very small in this Episode,but they are still obedient to Sentinel Prime.


Grandus: Despite his enormous girth,this Transformer fears organics,and was willing to put Fanzone out of his misery.


Flareup:This female Cybertronian was more disgusted than afraid of Fanzone,and provoked Grandus to step on him.


Rattletrap:A snaky,deceptive Autobot that makes underground deals with Decepticons rather than his own kind.Like his original counterpart, Rattrap,he contains an accent,but unlike his tough,sarcastic,Technorganic persona,Rattletrap is 100% mechanical,and afraid of organics himself.Even if he squeals easily,Rattletrap can still play dirty;by giving Ratchet and Fanzone,false Codes.


Tracks:Like the others before him,he was afraid of the presence of Fanzone,however,the tone he used o describe him was rather snooty…pretty much like his G1 namesake.


Shockwave:The main Decepticon in this Episode in determining to get the Activation Codes for Megatron.We are able to know more of Shockwave than being Megatron’s loyal henchbot.Unlike the Decepticons on Earth,Shockwave is more level-headed and can form his plans as well as Megatron.His observations on Arcee considers that he only views most beings as an advantage for the Decepticon Uprising,excluding Megatron of course.


Lugnut:Whom gave us a summary on how Megatron single-handedly controlled Omega Supreme.As usual, Lugnut does worship his leader, however, upon the end of the Episode,he showed gestures of anger and jealously,considering that of all the things he has done in Megatron’s name,Lugnut is not his most loyal(Or even favourite)servant.


Starscream:Has only observed the flaw of Megatron’s plans for conquest,and practically the only one who knew that someone is stupid enough to attack Omega Supreme.


Megatron:Is now ready to take Cybertron at his grasp,and regardless of the very short army he has,he can finally use Omega Supreme’s weapons for conquest.


Preceptor:When he spoke of Ratchet’s connection to Omega Supreme,it was not surprising that it does exceed him,regardless of him and Wheeljack that created Omega Supreme.


Alpha Trion:It seems that he does not possess all political power of Cybertron,considering that he is part of the Council with Preceptor.If it were up to him,however,he would never let Sentinel Prime be Magnus.



Weapons



Shockwave:Instead of using his own weapons,Shockwave used more of Ultra Magnus’ Hammer in which he could only use it to swing his enemies and create damage around him.However,Shockwave could not use the extent of the Hammer’s abilities,such as create lightning…however,it can only be done when near Ultra Magnus.

Like his alternate persona, Longarm Prime, Shockwave can stretch his arms.


Ratchet:He can use his magnetic weapons to prevent himself from falling.


Fortress Maximus:In Defence Mode,Fortress wields a large weapon equipped with small cannons.At once,they emit a large blast that could take down Omega Supreme.


Storyline



The Episode starts off in Sumdac Tower,where Ratchet is trying to figure out Bulkhead’s instructions on the Space Bridge.Fanzone arrives,having difficulties with Tech Support,as he wishes to speak to Sumdac.Failing to reach any communication,Fanzone asks Ratchet where Sumdac is,but was interrupted by the Security Drones,mistaking him for a criminal.As the robots fire on Fanzone,Ratchet continues complaining on Bulkhead’s writing.The Bride activates,being locked to Omega Supreme’s Transwarp Energy Signature.Fanzone,near the Bridge,is immediately sucked into the portal and Ratchet immediately follows him.

Fanzone is out of the portal and is surrounded by robots.Before realizing where he is,Fanzone was almost squished by an unaware Grandus.The large robot instantly freaks out and the rest of the robots look at the organic. Almost everybody runs off except for Grandus and Flareup,who tells Grandus to step on him.Fanzone avoids the massive steps and Ratchet finally comes in and stops the Autobot.Ratchet Transforms into his Alt-Mode and drives off with Fanzone,where both Grandus and Flareup gape in shock.Ratchet tells Fanzone joyously that they’ve reached Cybertron.He Transforms back into Robot Mode and detects that Omega Supreme was here.He then reached to his former favourite place,Maccadam’s Old Oil House,but sees that the place was shut down by Elite Guard Security.On time,a public,service announcement from Sentinel Prime shows up on screen;featuring clips of Cybertron,Shockwave,even an injured Ultra Magnus.Ratchet admits that it was Lockdown that captured the Decepticons.As he continues speaking,Tracks walks by and sees the organic with Ratchet.Freaked out,Tracks runs for his life…straight afterwards,Sentinel Prime,Jazz,Jetfire, and Jetstorm arrive.

Sentinel starts asking Ratchet why he was in Cybertron with an organic.Jazz starts to recognize Fanzone,but Sentinel continues on about the rules,such as Space Bridge travel being forbidden.Ratchet then tells off Sentinel and points out that there is no Space Bridge nearby(In which the two Flybots agree).Sentinel explains to Ratchet that he detects Transwarp energy,in which Ratchet concludes that it’s Omega Supreme.Sentinel recalls that Omega Supreme was Offline and scrapped,but Ratchet tells him that it was a political lie.Ratchet continues saying that the electrical storm on Cybertron with the Transwarp energy can make a Space Bridge,allowing Omega to enter Cybertron.Omega Supreme suddenly shows up,floating on Cybertron’s orbit.Sentinel then orders his team to let Cybertron be on full security,while he commands Ratchet and Fanzone to come with him.

Inside Omega Supreme,Megatron sees Cybertron nearby and Starscream points out on how to use Omega’s weaponry.Lugnut arrives,with one of the Transwarp engines,and tells Starscream that Megatron will find out,as he was the one that discovered the engine,Transformed Omega to Robot Mode,and even have freedom from and to the ship.Megatron tells both Cons that Shockwave is still on Cybertron.Shockwave then talks to Megatron via Comlink,telling him about the Activation Codes to access Omega’s weapons and how to get them.Starscream then moans about the Autobots ready to attack them,but Megatron corrects him;claiming that no Autobot is foolish to attack their greatest weapon…

…except for Sentinel Prime,who demands the Council to attack Omega Supreme.However, Ratchet claims that if they attack Omega,the Transwarp energy he absorb could destroy Cybertron.Preceptor then speaks about Ratchet,as he knows more about Omega Supreme than he,being the creator of the Omega Project.Sentinel points out that he is Magnus and it would be foolish to let Megatron get the upper hand. Alpha Trion says that the Council will deliberate,but Ratchet states that regardless of the situation,Omega is still an Autobot.Sentinel calls out treason and commands the Twins to arrest him.Fanzone, being slightly sick,starts to sneeze,and in a split second,Ratchet attacks the Twins and escapes with Fanzone in his Alt-Mode.The rest of the Elite Guard Transformed to their Alt-Modes and go after Ratchet.Sentinel and Jazz Transform back to their Robot Modes and demands to secure the perimeter on the Metroplex.Sentinel then demands Jazz to find Ratchet and Fanzone;tact or scrapped.He then demands Jetfire and Jetstorm to invert Energon to Fortress Maximus.He no longer cares of the Council’s deliberations and heads on for the attack on Omega Supreme.As everyone leaves,Jazz stands alone,noticing that there is a tunnel door in front of him.

Inside the underground tunnels of Cybertron,Ratchet thanks Fanzone for the distraction.He then tells him that the tunnels were sealed off after the Great Wars,but Fanzone notices that one of the walls of the funnels is torn off.The two investigate,starting off with Fanzone;discovering fresh oil drops.Ratchet notices some oil drums,and both suspect someone was hiding here.The two walk forward to the same place the Omega Project was established. Ratchet explains that he can use the computer to reach Omega Supreme,but Shockwave arrives behind them,with Ultra Magnus’ Hammer.Shockwave attacks Ratchet,and while wielding the Hammer,Shockwave converses with Ratchet about the Decepticon’s future victory through Omega Supreme.Eventually,Ratchet gains the upper hand and the two are at a stalemate.Shockwave then tells Ratchet that he will gain the Activation Codes from the original Autobot,Arcee.Shockwave wins the battle and leaves in his Alt-Mode.

In Fortress Maximus,Preceptor,and Alpha Trion speaks to Sentinel Prime as to why the Energon is being used for Fortress’ defences.Sentinel justifies his reasons to use Fortress Maximus,in which the Council was reluctant to agree with him,but still decide whether or not Omega Supreme should be attacked by Cybertron.Fortress Maximus then Transforms into Defence Mode and aims for Omega Supreme.

In Omega Supreme,Megatron realizes that the Autobots are willing to attack,in which Lugnut suggests that they should attack now.Starscream prefers abandoning the ship,in which Megatron retaliates.Shockwave then Comlinks Megatron,telling him that he has the Security Clearance to get the Activation Codes.Megatron asks how he got them, but Shockwave implies that he knows someone…

…that someone being Rattletrap,as he is interrogated by Ratchet and Fanzone.They ask to get a Security Card to the Central Infirmary.Rattletrap refuses to offer them,regardless of giving it to Shockwave earlier.Ratchet decides to use Fanzone to make the deal,in which Fanzone persuades the ‘Rat’ a little more,by nearly dripping snot into him.Rattletrap agrees and gives them the Card.

In the Central Infirmary of Cybertron,Ratchet uses the Card from Rattletrap.As it turns out, the ‘Rat’ double-crossed them,in which Jazz observed.Ratchet was prepared to fight, but Fanzone told him that Jazz could have done it long ago,and knew that he was following them the whole time.Jazz then used his own Card and the doors open.Ratchet and Fanzone went inside,while Jazz stays behind.After walking for a while,Ratchet opens the door to Arcee’s room,where she is still comatose from her encounter with Lockdown.Fanzone does not get what is going on,but the confusion wanes when Shockwave arrives,giving off the first attack.Before he could hit,Ratchet attacks Shockwave and rushes out of the room with Fanzone and Arcee.Fanzone still wants to know what is going on in where Ratchet explains that Arcee is the original source of the Activation Codes for Omega Supreme,until her memories were erased by Ratchet’s battle with Lockdown.The two are being blasted by Shockwave;getting through the corridor with his Alt-Mode.Ratchet then locks Arcee and Fanzone in a room.Ratchet and Shockwave battle,in where the Decepticon converses with the Autobot once more;this time about Arcee.Ratchet then blasts Ultra Magnus’ Hammer to the ceiling,and runs off immediately.Shortly after,Shockwave lands on the floor and runs after him.The two attack again and using Ratchet,Shockwave smashed through a wall to Ultra Magnus’ room.Shockwave greets the Offline Commander and decides to finish him off.Ratchet,with his E.M.P. at hand,blasts at the Hammer,then to Shockwave.Ratchet retrieves the Hammer,but the victory was cut short by Sentinel Prime,with weapons at hand.The two bicker,but was interrupted by Shockwave;blasting the ceiling to make his escape with Arcee.Sentinel instantly commands the Twins to fire on Omega Supreme.

In Fortress Maximus,the weapons fire, but Omega Supreme is Transwarped away from Cybertron,before being blasted.

At the Space Bridge Ports,Alpha Trion tells Sentinel about his careless actions,in where Sentinel replies that he’ll do it again to protect Cybertron.Trion now thanks Ratchet and Fanzone on retrieving Magnus’ Hammer,but Ratchet states that the Decepticons have Arcee.Preceptor tells Ratchet that Arcee’s amnesia is irreversible,though Ratchet doubts it.Before getting into the Transwarp Portal,Sentinel asks for the Hammer,but Ratchet runs into the Portal with Fanzone,telling Sentinel that he’ll give it to Ultra Magnus when he’s Online.Sentinel follows,but is stopped by Jazz,saying that he shall get it for him.

Back in Earth,Fanzone complains about his travel to Cybertron,even classing himself as a criminal,in which the Sumdac Security Robot agrees,before getting destroyed by Ratchet.Jazz enters and asks if he can join the Earth Autobots for a while.

On the Moon,Omega Supreme arrives out of Transwarp.Shockwave bows down to Megatron,being honoured to serve him in his true colours,and instantly changes his grey colour scheme to purple.Megatron commands Shockwave to rise as his most loyal servant,where Lugnut expresses jealously and Starscream smiling at the spectacle.Away from the Decepticons, Arcee awakens, ooking at Earth for the first time,and silently,calling out Ratchet’s name.


Two themes were central in this Episode,which is morality and power;which do go hand in hand in Cybertron.When looking at the rising political power in Sentinel Prime,he was willing to destroy Omega Supreme for the sake of Cybertron.Through this,we had an on-going scene whether it is right to kill him, onsidering that the Council,Ratchet,and even Shockwave have messed with Omega's processor to never allow him to think about the carnage he's caused and will be doing.This goes back to a question to why the Autobots create a WMD that has sentience,creating more consequences in the minds of the beings that were part of the Omega Project.There was also the question of Arcee,since she was comatose for many stellar cycles,could she even be considered as a being?Seeing as Shockwave classified her as '...an empty piece of hardware.'and that the Council continued to use her to advance the Omega Project.

Another question came to mind when seeing Arcee:Is Decepticon technology a little more advanced than Autobot technology?It could be,since the Decepticons were in hiding in other planets,there could have been some advances in term of weaponry,which is intended for conquest of Cybertron.Shockwave was able to obtain the Activation Codes from Arcee without any problems(At least,onscreen),while Preceptor claims that repairing Arcee's memory was irreversible.

What would happen if Sentinel Prime gained control of Ultra Magnus' Hammer?Him being so persistent on obtaining that Hammer gave me the idea that Sentinel is quite power-hungry;seeing as he stoops low sometimes to gain praise,rejects the Council's idea of deliberation,and even spoke up to Alpha Trion.Sentinel wanting that Hammer very badly gives the idea that he'll keep it for himself to permanently take the role of Magnus,perhaps even overthrowing Magnus when he awakens.Who knows what will happen if he was in ultimate power?All we know is that Ratchet prevented intergalactic disaster.

This is something I hardly do in Reviewing,but I like to note how wonderful Corey Burton's performance in playing Shockwave and Ratchet very well;from their lines,to their expressions of action.However,his Megatron wasn't as well delivered as I thought.

I've noticed a slight reference to Beast Wars 'The Nemesis' in this Episode,which is Megatron.He is in control of the greatest warship in Animated history,the remaining subordinates is either a worshipper(Lugnut-Inferno),a traitor(Starscream-Waspinator),a intelligent,but loyal being(Shockwave-TMII Dinobot)and the final battle shall be placed in Earth.It's still debateable whether or not Megatron will take down the Humans.



My Thoughts:



At last we are close to the end of the Animated Series.With everything that has went on in the past few Episodes,most of the characters are either concluded or to be seen in the Two-Parter ‘Endgame’,starting next week.

There are still a few things that are vital to the plot of the Series Finale that I’ve already stated in my previous Review:Sari’s Allspark power shall come to fruition and Megatron having full control of Omega Supreme.However,some changes have been added to what I’ve stated before,such as Ratchet in possession of Ultra Magnus’ Hammer and Jazz joining the Earth Autobots.The Space Bridge being used is still debateable,since Omega Supreme can Transwarp without the need of a Space Bridge…so,does that mean that the Earth Autobots may use that Bridge to get home?Will Cybertron’s Autobots use that Bridge to battle the remaining Decepticons on Earth?We’ll fine out pretty soon.

Now that Arcee’s memories have returned,one wonders how important she will be in ‘Endgame’.Since Shockwave now obtains the Activation Codes,it seems likely that she will join the Earth Autobots in the upcoming battle.

There are some questions that need to be answered in 'Endgame':

• The remaining Allspark shards
  The remaining Starscream Clones(Egomaniac,Coward,Female,and Dirge)
  Starscream's body in the lake of Detroit
  The whereabouts of Soundwave,Laserbeak,and Ratbat(Despite a poor conclusion in 'Human Error')
  Team Charr and Rodimus' Team
  The remaining clues to Sari's origin

Hopefully,some of these can be answered.

So now Ratchet claims Omega Supreme is an Autobot,making my earlier explanation on the ’No Autobot Can Fly’ Continuity Error,a real error…thanks.

This is the second Rattrap reference in Animated and the second time Tom Kenny voiced a character from Scott McNeil.

Slight Beast Machines bashing?I thought Marty was proud of that Series.
