I'll be honest. I was not impressed.

What I gathered was that they have the same cast as last time, plus some Transformers who still (who can blame them?) want to kill Shaeiou LeBuff.

No on the first point, yes on the second, but for different reasons than in the first movie (and it's not just revenge).

The plot is considerably more complex-- what we've seen so far of the prequel comics confirms this. Hints:

The Fallen (The film's title doesn't just refer to the Decepticons)
Egypt
Paris
Japan
Laurentian Abyss
Pretender
Cyberglyphics
N.E.S.T.
Allspark Radiaton

You have to remember, Bay HATES trailers that basically lay out the entire plot of the movie. He's purposefully not giving anything away. Most trailers would probably have just shown Devastator at the end with a voiceover by Prime about The Fallen, but Bay went with only ONE Constructicon, to make it all the more impressive when you see the actual movie.

I've actually been planning to see Friday the 13th remake since December and now that I have a free pass (due to the lights coming on three minutes before the end of My Bloody Valentine) I can. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I guess when it comes to action: Michael Bay will keep the boredom away... wow that was bad...

In the novelization of the film, Optimus went back to take care of Barricade, hence his being so late for the final battle. It could be one explanation as to why Barricade needed an upgrade. Though the more probable reason is that everyone knew Barricade was the world's coolest police car.

According to the prequel comics (which are directly influenced by TF2, but not really visa versa), Barricade survived his experience, though injured (Ironhide just forced him into crashing into an overpass pole at top-speed). He eventually recovered and has been spying for Starscream ever since. He hasn't been reformatted into an Audi yet (though the prequel comic "Alliance" is only halfway through), but judging from the Audi toy we've seen, there's so many similarities I can't see it being anything BUT Barricade. Same window-halves on his upper back, same hands/sawblade gimmick, same feet, very similar head sculpt....

But yeah.

According to s250, a guy in Hong Kong who's always proven to be a very reliable source of information in the past, this Constructicon forms one of the arms & shoulders of Devastator. We've been given a list of all the construction vehicles that are used for Devastator:

And as you can see, about 2-3 of them are just as big as this guy. (And, given that it's been all-but-confirmed we'll be getting a $100 U.S., 2 FEET TALL Devastator toy giftset with components that will also be released individually, the most probable breakup for that giftset is 3 Voyagers, 4 Deluxes, given the respective pricepoints. And the toy for Mr. Taffy-Puller-of-Doom is Voyager-class)

Also, the cement mixer is the one that forms part of the chest of Devastator-- the cement drum transforms into a sort of turbine for the combined mode, capable of generating miniature tornadoes that suck stuff into Devastator's chest and spits the pieces out his back.

That was a bad, misinformed rumor. There's a Superion toy coming out for Revenge of the Fallen, but it's just a Target exclusive repaint of Energon Superion Maximus.

Forty TransFormers are supposed to be in the sequel? Holy shrimp! See, I was actually hoping there would be more character development with the big 'bots this time. I thought the first movie lacked that because there was so much action and a lot of focus on the puny fleshlings. But I actually haven't watched the first one since I bought it on DVD, heh, so maybe my memory is just a little foggy with that. I definitely want to see more interaction between the TransFormers, though. Battling, of course, but some more dialogue too, at least long enough so that I can tell which 'bot is talking when the camera isn't in their faces (besides Prime, Bumblebee and Megs, who I thought had the most distinct voices out of all of them).

Ah, forget it. I just need to watch the first one again. And soon!

They aren't going to focus on all of them. I know of five new "main" Autobots--Skids, Mudflap, Sideswipe, Arcee (who may technically count as three in that total), and Jolt-- and probably a few Decepticons (Starscream, Jetfire, Megs 2.0, Soundwave, The Fallen?) will get their fair share of the spotlight, as well. I'd imagine the rest are redshirts/troop boosters.

Of course not! They would need more than two and a half hours of movie for that. Still, I have a feeling there's going to be too much focus on the action instead of building some personalities and characterizations with the coolest alien robots in history. I can't wait to see all of the new TransFormers, especially Devastator. XD

I'm scared of the exact same thing Optimal Optimus Primal.

I actually thought the first one wasn't... at least, incredible. It was alright, even good, but... I was hoping this second one would pick up something that the first movie couldn't really logically do anyways- characterization (the first movie always has the burdens of franchise exposition, so that's why I think it couldn't work on that).

If this is a repeat of the first movie though, it'll kinda... I don't know what words to use. I almost always hate to be skeptical of movies, so to speak negatively feels odd. But, if it doesn't characterize I guess the second movie won't... work?
