Pictures of Universe Dinobot have surfaced. Like Universe Cheetor, it's highly reminiscent of his original BW form but with some creative liberties taken, mostly to give him a sleeker beast mode. He's definitely a Deinonychus, he has the big claw-toe on each foot now. Legs don't stick out from the sides nearly as much in beast mode, has MUCH better proportions in that mode. Robot arms stick out in beast mode, but he may be mistransformed in the picture, and even if he isn't, they're WAY smaller than the robot legs on the underbelly that the original Dinobot toy had. He's dark brown with light stripes instead of the other way around.
In robot mode his appendages are a bit skinnier, as a side effect of his having a sleeker beast mode. They're not TOO skinny, though. Head is spot-on show accurate, beast head forms the chest but it doesn't stick out as much, has some "bone ribs" on his chest. Beast mode arms hang off back. He actually has normal hands, though there are fake dino claws molded on the sides of them. His dino feet just form his robot feet this time around, by lengthening and moving some hip kibble down to his lower legs and flipping out a new set of feet. Legs are slightly mistransformed in the pic, but it's obvious that more "rib bone" panels fold out to surround part of his lower legs. Not sure what happens to his tail/what kind of weapon it becomes.
He's due out in Universe 2009 Deluxe Wave 2, in Feburary or so.

Since he was premiered in the TF Collectors' Club magazine, I can't show you the pictures, though, I'm prohibited from showing them on the Internet-- if it's traced back to me, they'd revoke my membership. A listing for him has shown up on some online stores, though, so it shouldn't be too long before the pics are made public.

So I guess it's confirmed then,but he will still be a velociraptor to the rest of the people.

That prototype doesn't look fully painted, though-- Dinobot does NOT have that yellowish color on him in the "finished product" club pics.

Dang did I buy the wrong version of Dinobot.

AM I the only person here who really DOESN'T like his new look?

Ok I know all of you are giving him different beast mode associations,but because I am a total geek,I looked this up. The writers actualy SAID he is a velociraptor,and that the missing tell-tale-toe-claw( ) was a flaw in the animation. Plus,the back of the original toy packaging(which can be unreliable in many cases) says that his beast mode is a velociraptor.


I do not want to discourage anyone's beliefs,but I must also note that the TM2 clone had the claw on his feet in beast mode.
