Ok, a week ago to the day I had no idea that within a week we'd end up getting a dog! To cut a long story short we had been debating getting a dog at some point in the future, but had started doing a little bit of research to find a good breed.
Somehow Nick ended up on this website for adoption of dogs. He found this one white shepherd/siberian husky mix in a shelter who was scheduled to be euthanized two days later due to over-crowding. The next day when I got out of work he asked me not to get mad.. yeah, no good thing can come from a sentence starting with those words right? Right? Though as it turned out he had called the shelter and told them we'd take the dog (thus saving its life). As bad as I had felt for the dog when I first heard the story, I certainly hadn't planned on becoming a dog owner again right away. Yet here we were. We started preparing by buying toys, a pen/cage for the dog to sleep in, and chew toys and such as well. Then came the day we were supposed to pick the dog up, and to my surprise he had been adopted away to someone else in the meanwhile.
So that's when we came to find our puppy, whom we named Oliver on the trip back home.
Awww thats endless amounts of cute and awesome right there. Please give him a pat from me. Reminds me of my old dog. She was a border collie and was the friendliest dog you could ever meet. I'd love to get another one, but with my life the way it is I wouldn't be able to give it the love and care it deserves. Maybe in a couple of years time when things settle down and travel is not so much
lol jsut recently I was looking up "how to raise a puppy" articles because I realllllllllllllllllllly want one some day but I'm not sure I'd be the Alpha a dog would require.
He's really cute and really lucky. I bet you this was meant to happen. I like the last picture, he kinda looks a little shy but really happy at the same time.
*squeals!!!* He's so CUTE!!! Awwww!!!! Congrats, and best of luck on your new family member! He's a keeper! *melts into a puddle of goo at the adorableness*
Uncle Iroh: I know you're not supposed to cry over spilled tea, but *cries* it's just so sad!

He is growing up so fast! He has started getting the idea of some simple commands, like going outside to do his duties and sitting on command. Well, sometimes at least. Now one of his ears stands up straight most of the time while the other one flops down still. We have started training him as a search and rescue dog,to give him a purpose besides being a cute cuddly ball of puppy love. So far so good!
I remember when my dog was a puppy (Shiba/Husky mix). She was just a small puff of brown and white hair. Now i'ts been a year later, I often find myself looking at her and saying to myself "What the hell happened to you, you used to be so cute and fluffy."
