Toys you'd like to be released for BW 10th Anniversary?

Where we talk about nothing other than that. :)

Toys you'd like to be released for BW 10th Anniversary?

Unread post by Outtsyder »

This topic was brought up by fellow Hangar Pilot Names Are Unimportant at my own boards, so I thought I'd bring it over here as well. Let's say there was a chance for another wave of BWX ("X" of course being Roman numeral for "10") toys. Which ones would you like to see, along with an appropriate single-episode DVD (and maybe an extra accessory)?

For starters, given the current assortment is all Deluze size-point toys, my first focus would be on the Basic and Deluxes, probably to start with the more affordable molds. Given that we've already gotten Cheetor, Rhinox, Waspinator, Tarantulas, Dinobot and TM Rattrap, at first glance, there may not appear to be that many left to use. However, closer examination may reveal a number that can still be done.

I kind of wonder about the original mold Blackarachnia... while its form resembles Tarantulas (being a repaint, of course), maybe it could be possible to make a new design for her (like what's been done with Deluxe-sized Primal and Megatron). It doesn't have to be EXTREMELY voluptuous, but even if they don't make a completely new remold for her body, a more cartoon-accurate paint job could work, (like the gold chest with the spider-legs motif on it). Definitely, give her a show-accurte head, too, rather than just the switchable robot-to-mutant head from the old mold. As for which episode for her DVD? There's a BUNCH of episodes that can be used for her, including Tangled Web, Proving Grounds, or maybe her debut episode, Double Jeopardy.

One idea that might throw some for a loop: Grimlock, which was a repaint of Dinobot. He didn't appear in the show, of course, but he is in the new comic. He could be an interesting generational-crossover toy for the assortment. Obviously, though, there's no animated episode for him, but maybe a different premium could work, like a free comic book?

I'd also like to see Silverbolt get re-issued. If Hasbro stretched the budget a little, issue him in a special 2-pack with Quickstrike, with both parts of Coming Of The Fuzors. If it's Silverbolt alone, maybe Transmutate? He's also in a lot of episodes which could work for a pack-in DVD.

A couple Transmetals can't hurt, either; maybe bring back Transmetal Tarantulas, although he'd probably "want" to have Tangled Web for his pack-in episode.

If we were to venture into the larger price points, the two I would most strongly suggest re-issuing are Rampage and Depth Charge. If each of them got their own DVD episode in separate packaging, Rampage has to have Bad Spark. For Depth Charge, Deep Metal. Imagine if they were released in a (predictably expensive) 2-pack, though. Nemesis makes the most sense, being their final confrontation. Another larger-size re-release I'd like to see is Transmetal Megatron, this time using plastic that's less likely to crumble to bits in 10 years. Maybe package him with Aftermath.

Now for accessories to come with the figures... maybe try having a stand-alone "artifact" appropriate to the character. I wouldn't mind one or two of them including some energon crystals or cubes, if a tailor-made accessory can't be decided. For Tarantulas, I'd LOVE it if he came with a couple Arachnoid drones. 8) Rampage should come with the hand-held compression box containing half his spark (whether or not it can actually be squeezed, it doesn't matter). And I'd just about KILL for a Transmetal Megatron to come with a scale-size replica of the Golden Disk... though another accessory idea? The rubber duck.

Any wishes from you guys?

My list:

Inferno: His original mold didn't do him justice at all! I think aif Hasbro or Takara got another shot with it, it would be a masterpiece.

Tigatron: If they made some changes to the original mold to make it more than just a Cheetor repaint, it would look really, really good.

It would be nice to see some remakes of the Transmetal 2 series.

I know they lost the mold to TM Ravage, but that doesn't mean I don't want to see it... Same goes for a 2-pack of original Rattrap and Terrorsaur with show-accurate paint jobs. (Terrorsaur is RED, not orange like the toy!)

Also, new molds in the theme of the BWX "Jungle Planet" Primal and Megatron for Scorponok, Airazor, Tigatron, or Inferno would seriously rock all.

A deluxe size Rampage and Depth Charge.

A brand new Rattrap and Waspinator. I would love to see them get new looks.

Remakes of Waspinator and Rattrap are already out. Why would you want a Deluxe size Depth Charge and Rampage. You gave me an idea, a remake of Rampage would dominate!!! Anyone else like the idea of Hasbro coming out with armouries replicas of the ones on the show?

Brand new as in redesigned. Like the new Optimus Primal and Megatron are nothing like their BW or BM versions.

I was actually talking about that over in the Underground Hangar, and came up with this idea, if the BW Ravage mold wasn't lost. As for which episode to choose for his free DVD, it'd feel kind of wrong to just take one part of The Agenda, and I'm guessing there may have to be some sort of a balance-out for the extra accessories to come with the toys. If that's the case, they could include a DVD with all three parts of The Agenda and not worry about any other stuff to add.

OTOH, if Hasbro wants to make a special-commemorative bundle pack devoted entirely to BW Ravage (even though it'll probably drive the price up like mad), how about this cross-generational idea... BW Ravage with The Agenda DVD, a miniature replica of his transwarp cruiser (like the BWX Leaders will come with mini-versions of the Axalon and the Darkseid)... and a "re-issue" of his G1 cassette version? 8) That could be a cool idea, but hellaciously expensive. Ouch....
