A suspect?! and an apology.

*Deep, calming breath* Everyone, I have something dat has been botherin me, so I need to get it off my chest.

I ask everyone be serious cuz dis is no laughin matter.

Those who have recently posted on da newly created RPG forum have witnessed the attacks on Sinead by anonymous 'guests'. I was- no, am- a suspect. And dat REALLY scares me.

Before I tell you how I may have been named 'suspect', I have to tell ya, You probably won't believe me, but I am tellin da truth. I will however respect your opinion fully.

When I made dis account, I let a some of my friends have my username and password in da hopes dat dey would go on da forum, read posts and post, fall in love wid BW, eventually get dere own account, and be my BW buddy outside o da internet. If I'm named guilty, I'll know my hopes backfired. Da only explaination dat I can offer is dat one of my friends wasn't very trustworthy and used my account to create da hated 'guest', and disregardin da rules bout manners, posted does hurtful comments. But it is my account and I let my friend have free reign on my account.

Sinead, I apologize in advance. If my account is found guilty I want you to know dat I did NOT know bout da usage of my account. I'm sorry your feelings were stepped on, and even though we haven't spoken much, I hope you can forgive dat I may have been indirectly responsible for your hurt.

BWint, I have to apologize to you too. This is a great place for BWint fandom, and I hope dat if my account WAS used for makin da 'guest' you can all forgive me.

I know some of you must be outraged, Sinead, RC, and Sky (my besties) in particular. Therefore feel free to rage at me in PM.

BWint, if I'm not banned, I swear I will change my password, and no one shall ever fall victim to one of da two (or three) 'guests' again.

Well at least you came forward and admitted you might have made a mistake. It's not a good idea to give people the password to your account. Heck, I don't even tell friends and family members the passwords I use for any account I have on any website.

From a logical standpoint Tor, it wouldn't matter by any means that you gave them your password. That would be a problem if they logged on your account and made bad comments using your account (not Guest II or Guest).

They do not, however, need anybody's account to use as a springboard for posting as guests on that subforum. Remember how it didn't make you log in to post (that almost tripped me up twice).

If your IP is found guilty, your only "fault" in this is making them aware of Bwint. In that case, you can't be blamed for anything. You simply introduced them to the site. Whether you gave them your password or not, they would have posted against Sinead. And since that's the case, you can't be blamed at all. You could not have known what they were going to do, and I'm sure most of us have tried to recruit people to this site. That just plain is no fault of yours.

If I'm not understanding something about this, please inform me, but either way, there is absolutely nothing to forgive Tor.

*said at extremely fast right* I checked my messages early in da mornin and Razor One, who was considerate enough to send dis by PM, told me my IP is matched wid his/her IP and it may hurt my postin privileges. I've been frettin all day wrestlin wid what to do to clear my name. So I made dis thread and tried to do everything I can to make ammends for anything I might've done. *huge sigh* *normal talk* Thanks for listenin to dis.

An IP address has nothing to do with your registered account. It has everything to do with your hardware.

Never fear! Your resident computer nerd is here!

An IP adress to a computer is like a fingerprint to a human. If somebody posts something here, then whatever somputer you're using leaves it's own 'fingerprint' or IP adress on the site's system. I hope this helps you out a bit.

And yeah, I remember that Jagna had an incident like this recently, only it was on her DeviantART account and a heck of a lot more brutal. Don't worry. All is forgiven, or at the very least I forgive you.

No hard feelings. I'm basically going to ditto Blazemane on this one.

Dat clears things up to me, and makes dis mystery a lil less confusin. Da thing is, I've used multiple computers at multiple houses to access da forum (not makin dis up, I'm addicted to dis site)... *sigh*..... I'm doomed aren't I?

The fact that the signatures match is very serious.

I don't want to say anything that might damage the investigation, however I seriously suggest that for your own sake, you say no more on this matter for the time being.

To clarify the situation.

One of the Guest posts tracks back to an IP that Tor has used for 185 of his posts.

Another guest post tracks back to an IP that Tor has used for 25 of his posts.

Three of the guest posts tracked back to a unique IP that in no way implicates Tor.

Nobody is being banned AFAIK until the investigation is concluded. I for one think Tor is innocent in this.

When you post from a public library or a computer that is shared between many individuals, you run this risk. If you share out your account password, for all intents and purposes the post is still being made by YOU. I cant tell if someone else is sitting behind the compy when they post on your account.

Some Simple Tips for the future.

Do NOT share your account or your account password with others.

AVOID posting on public computers if you can help it.

If someone else posts from your own personal computer, do NOT leave them alone. Watch them every second if they're posting here. If they want to post something their mother wouldnt be proud of, they can do it from their own computer.

My advice? Go about your business and keep posting as normal. Remain Calm.
